First released into the Philippine market in 2007, the Captiva was Chevrolet's contender in the ever-so-popular crossover segment. It was one of the first small crossovers available with a diesel option at that time, a trait that brought it ahead of the competition. But like all cars on sale, it eventually got old and fell behind. That's why The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) has quietly brought the refreshed and face-lifted 2012 Captiva into their local showrooms as early as June 2012.

The Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID) is having a blast this 2012 as they record yet another great month of sales. Last July, six of its members sold a combined total of 2,128 units, which is a remarkable 19% growth over the same month last year. On a year-to-date basis, this sums up to 18,017 units sold and earns AVID a 27% growth from the 14,195 units sold in the same period last year. Even more impressive is the fact that they were able to surpass the overall industry's growth of 11%.

Before the year ends, Chevrolet Philippines' largest dealership in Metro Manila will rise in what is the the region's largest city. Chevrolet Commonwealth will sit on a 2,374 sq. meter parcel of land along the major thoroughfare of Quezon City and will sport Chevrolet's new Global Dealership Design. It's also in-line with the The Covenant Car Company Inc's (TCCC) plan to expand their nationwide dealership network to 24 before the end of 2012. This effectively doubles Chevrolet Philippines' dealer presence in the country from the time TCCCI took over the bow tie brand in 2009 where only 12 dealerships existed at the time.

If you think that the endless increase in fuel prices, worsening traffic jams, and high toll fees would actually deter anyone from buying a new car, well you're wrong. Despite all the odds, the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID) managed to report a 46% sales growth in February 2012 over the same period last year. Collectively, AVID members sold 2,881 vehicles, compared to the 1,971 units in the same month last year.
