Five months ago, Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) gave us the all-new 2012 Civic. It was every bit as beautiful as we expected and sold like hotcakes the moment it hit the showroom. But despite everything that it had to offer, something was missing from the picture that made it fall short from being perfect.

Due to a supply shortage caused by a flood-hit plant in Thailand, HCPI had to temporarily source their units from Japan. This Japan-built Civic came with all the bells and whistles such as cruise control, a backup camera, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), and Bluetooth handsfree connectivity. The only problem is, it came with only one engine option, in automatic, at a price of P1,074,000.

Now that the supply lines are back up and running, HCPI is finally able to present to us the full line up of their all-new 2012 Civic - available with a manual transmission and a 2.0L engine option.

When Honda launched the 1st generation CR-V back in 1997, hardly anyone in the Philippines knew what a “compact SUV” was, let alone knew what to do with it. Bigger than a car, smaller than a 4x4, and carried less people than an MPV, it was most definitely a luxury only for the people who can afford it. But in 15 years of experience, we've learned that, what we now call crossovers, are actually good for daily drives, out of town trips, and most importantly, showing off how big your paycheck really is. Honda, however, is making us rethink what we know about the usual SUV with the all-new 2012 CR-V.

Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) marked a special day in history last February 16, 2012 when they unveiled the all-new 2012 Civic in the country. The 9th generation of their renowned sedan has been re-engineered from the ground up and infused with attributes such as “Clean and Energetic,” “Smart Technology,” “Fun to Drive,” and “Fuel-Efficient” to make it worthy of inheriting the throne of the model it replaces. And if you're still contemplating on getting one, you better make up your mind NOW, as the first few batches of Civics in the Philippines are not assembled locally or in Thailand, but are instead, directly imported CBU from Japan.
