Just three months after its launch at the 33rd Bangkok International Motor Show, top execs from General Motors, facility employees, key suppliers, and dealers welcomed the all-new Chevrolet Trailblazer as it rolled off GM Thailand's manufacturing facility in Rayong province. A top-of-the-line LTZ variant with a 2.8 liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine was the first in line to come out of the factory.

Before the year ends, Chevrolet Philippines' largest dealership in Metro Manila will rise in what is the the region's largest city. Chevrolet Commonwealth will sit on a 2,374 sq. meter parcel of land along the major thoroughfare of Quezon City and will sport Chevrolet's new Global Dealership Design. It's also in-line with the The Covenant Car Company Inc's (TCCC) plan to expand their nationwide dealership network to 24 before the end of 2012. This effectively doubles Chevrolet Philippines' dealer presence in the country from the time TCCCI took over the bow tie brand in 2009 where only 12 dealerships existed at the time.

From observation, diesel-powered cars don’t sell as well here in the Philippines. While budget-conscious Filipinos love diesel SUVs, vans, and pick-up trucks, diesel cars often get the cold shoulder. Perhaps it’s simply because we’ve never really had hero diesel cars to look up to. When people think of a diesel SUV, it’s pretty easy to conjure up images of Land Cruisers and Patrols conquering the far flung jungles of the world. But for a diesel car, it’s usually a smoke-belching Isuzu Gemini or a dinky Hyundai Accent taxi weaving erratically through traffic that come to mind. Neither of which is as sexy as a big, burly SUV.

The great diesel cars have invariably all been German, with a price tag several times what most people would pay for a simple driving appliance. But the times are changing. Years ago, it would’ve been hard to imagine a car capable of both 20 km/l fuel economy and a 200+ km/h top speed, let alone one priced within reach of most middle class buyers. Today, we have two and, surprisingly, they’re both from America, the land of high-octane muscle cars. Roll out the Ford Focus TDCi and the Chevrolet Cruze VCDi.

Chevrolet introduced its very first pick-up - the Series 490 - way back in 1918. It got its name from its price tag of $490 and was slated up against the Model T which was sold at $495 at the time. The Series 490 had a 2.8L four-cylinder engine that could propel it to a maximum speed of 48 km/h and came standard with electric horns, a speedometer, ammeter, dome lights, and headlight dimmers - features we take for granted these days, but they were at the forefront of engineering 94 years ago. By the end of its seven year production run, Chevrolet was able to sell over 700,000 examples of the Series 490. Now, in 2012, the bow tie brand is continuing its truck building heritage with the all-new Colorado.

Aren't MPV's supposed to be bland, boring, bouncy bricks whose primary duty is lugging around family members or children, and are best associated with soccer moms? Well, for a change, Chevrolet's out to beat the MPV stereotype with the Orlando - an MPV dressed to look like an SUV, built to drive like a sedan, yet big enough to seat seven adults like a true MPV should. It all sounds like the perfect solution for anyone who’s torn between the modes of transport, but does it really work?

The bow tie brand is out to give a helping hand this Holy Week as The Covenant Car Company Inc. (TCCCI), the importer and distributor of Chevrolet in the country, proudly brings back its Chevy Roadside Assistance program for 2012. Now, there's no need to worry about that upcoming road trip.

It's always a good idea to have your vehicle checked for its road-worthiness. And with Chevrolet's Roadside Assistance program, you can get a safety check-up for FREE at select Shell Service Stations. It also makes availing of pertinent services such as tightening of bolts, replacing fan belts, radiator hoses, and spark plugs a lot easier. This would the perfect time to have your Chevy's ignition and fuel system, brakes, and clutch checked and adjusted before you head out on your road trip.

Much has been said about the Chevrolet Cruze. Not surprising, owing to the fact that this is a car that has to live up to every inch of its plural, ‘world car’ status. Built to respond to the needs of every market, this is a car that finally brought Chevy out of the dark ages of solely relying on rebranding to get products to fill out gaps in its automotive line-up. The current Cruze is now built on a global platform designed by GM, branded and kitted to regional and country-specific needs - a surer formula for market acceptance. And now that there's a diesel version thrown in the mix, can it really make a better Cruze?

What does the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Montero Sport, Isuzu Alterra, and Ford Everest all have in common? They're all based on a pick-up truck platform and are born in the “Detroit of Asia,” otherwise known as Chennai in Thailand. And with the success of these SUV's, Chevrolet recently joined the bandwagon with the launch of Colorado-based all-new 2013 Trailblazer at the 33rd Bangkok International Motor Show.
