Audi captures 2011 DTM driver's and team's championship
On its 84th and last outing, the Audi A4 ended its eight-year career in DTM the best way possible it knows how: capturing both the driver's and team's championship for Martin Tomczyk and the Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline in Hockenheim Ring, Germany. Since 2004, the A4 has clinched five out of eight championship titles, 44 pole positions, 31 fastest laps, and 34 race victories - a record that the A5 DTM will have to step up to in 2012. "You can’t really wish for more than this,” commented Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, Head of Audi Motorsport. "It’s truly been a perfect year for Audi.”

Audi's A5 DTM is ready to wrestle

Two months after the first design sketches were revealed, Audi's 2012 DTM contender is finally ready to step into the limelight at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The new Audi A5 DTM will be the first ever two-door coupe from the four rings brand to enter into international touring car series. And when it hits the track next year, it should be fit to slug it out with the best from BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
Conforming to new Technical Regulations, the A5 DTM shares as much as 50 components with other cars on the grid to reduce costs by 40 percent. Its front and rear subframes are now identical throughout all DTM manufacturers, but underneath the composite body sits a freshly-designed hybrid carbon fiber monocoque and steel cage chassis to improve safety. Adding to that are more stringent material and production specifications for suspension components, which greatly limits the suspension's design options.

Audi rewrites 1+1 with its new Urban Concept

In the aggressive world of automotives, it’s important to always stay on the cutting edge. And with traffic and congestion problems creeping up the world’s roads, “cutting edge” may very well have its own double-entendre.
Audi has recently conjured up a completely new lightweight, super compact 1+1 prototype - the Audi Urban Concept. This concept vehicle is the first of its kind, not modeled or reinvented from any model before it, and is developed on the principles of lightweight construction, efficiency and reduction. Less is positively more; the result is a frill-free sporty two-seater powered by two e-tron electric motors with a lithium-ion battery as source.

Audi sets up a piece of Germany at the BGC

At the corner of 28th Street and 11th Avenue at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig resides a little piece of Germany. The silver and gray façade is undeniable, as are the cars behind the glass. PGA Cars Inc., the exclusive distributor of Audi in the Philippines, opened its brand-spanking new Audi Global City showroom at the PGA Center, Global City last July 28, 2011.
The Global City showroom is Audi's third dealership that opened in Metro Manila, joining Audi Greenhills and Audi Alabang. “For us, it is about bringing the brand to our customers, with trendsetting dealerships that place people as our focus,” said Benedicto T. Coyiuto, Audi Managing Director of PGA Cars, Inc. The German automaker has big plans for its sales growth with an aim of 1.5 million units sold worldwide by the year 2015. Robert Coyiuto, Jr., Chairman of PGA Cars, Inc., confidently remarks, “Audi AG has PGA Cars’ full support in making this vision a reality for the Philippines. We’ve got the right products in the pipeline for our ambitious growth plans.”

Audi steps up the A5 for DTM 2012

For the past eight years, Audi has been wielding the A4 for their assault in DTM with much success, propelling them to four driver's championships in 2004, 2007, 2008, and 2009. But in 2012, the distinguished four-door saloon will have to sit it out in the sidelines as the A5 coupe will soon take its place on the starting grid. Internally designated as the “R17,” Audi's latest contender has yet to see the light of day, but design sketches reveal that it’s fit to take the chequered flag in first.

Audi bullies with its 503hp A1 clubsport quattro

The boys at Audi surely know how to push things over the edge when they created the 503 horsepower A1 clubsport quattro. This pint-sized hatchback is a one-off creation built to test Audi's technological limits. Powered by a 2.5 liter turbo-charged five-cylinder TFSI engine with quattro permanent all-wheel drive, this could be a prelude to Audi's return to the WRC.
Raw Power
The A1 clubsport quattro is designed to be a road-legal track monster. Weighing in at just 1,390 kg, it can achieve supercar figures, catapulting from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and reach 200 km/h 7.2 seconds later. And by adopting the TT RS' six-speed manual transmission and quattro permanent all-wheel drive, this hot hatch should easily reach a limited top speed of 250 km/h.

Audi's quattro still the best-selling luxury all-wheel drive platform in the world

PGA Cars Inc., the Philippine distributor of four rings brand Audi, hold their heads up high as Audi once again sold more all-wheel drive vehicles than any other luxury brand globally. In the 30th anniversary of quattro, Audi has produced over 400,000 cars with its renowned all-wheel drive system last year alone. That makes up for around 38 percent of all vehicles sold worldwide with all-wheel drive technology.
The quattro system was derived from Audi's hugely successful Quattro rally car which was the first ever to use four-wheel drive in competition racing. The Quattro completely changed the world of rallying since its debut in 1980 and continuously enjoyed victories in world championships up until 1986 when the monstrous Group B rally cars were banned. To commemorate its success, Audi named its four-wheel drive system “quattro” with a lower case “q” after the Quattro rally car.

Audi keeps top spot for luxury autos in European sales

Audi AG Germany defended its top spot in luxury-auto sales in Europe last year as premium-car demand revived according to Bloomberg. New registrations for Audi stayed on top with sales of 623,536, the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association said today. In December, Audi deliveries climbed 16 percent.
Luxury-car sales benefited as buyers gained confidence in the economic outlook and companies used improved earnings to restock corporate fleets. Demand plunged in 2009 as customers opted for cheaper and more fuel-efficient cars that were backed by government subsidies. Most incentives ended last year. Audi, based in Ingolstadt, Germany, aims to be the global luxury champion by 2015.
