In front of 120,000 spectators, six Audi drivers finished in point-scoring positions at the 2011 DTM finale held last October 23, 2011. Martin Tomczyk, driving for Audi Sport Team Phoenix, finished on the podium in second, followed by Miguel Molina in third. Mike Rockenfeller, Mattias Ekström, Timo Scheider, and Oliver Jarvis then filled the fourth, sixth, seventh, and eight positions, respectively.
Newly-crowned Martin Tomczyk couldn't have a more brilliant season. The 29-year-old German driver took three race victories - eight podium finishes - with no result worse than fifth place in this year's DTM calendar. Besides the 2011 DTM driver's title, Tomczyk was also voted the “Motorsportsman of the Year” by the Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club e.V. (ADAC) for a second time running, a feat only shared by seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher and four-time DTM champion Bernd Schneider.
Miguel Molina too enjoyed a brilliant race in Hockenheim. The 22-year-old drove to the chequered flag in third after qualifying on pole - the Spaniard's first podium finish in his young DTM career. Teammates Mike Rockenfeller and Mattias Ekström, on the other hand, secured the team championship for Audi Sport Abt Sportsline with their fourth and sixth positions.
