The Covenant Car Company Inc. (TCCCI) recently gave the newest member of the Chevrolet family a huge public debut, and what a debut it was. Last February 18 to 20, 2011 the Chevy Motorama landed smack down in the middle of the Music Hall in SM Mall of Asia where the all-new Chevrolet Spark was unveiled alongside its siblings - the Aveo, Cruze, Captiva, Camaro, and Suburban. This was Chevy's biggest event of the year!

Big things come in small packages
This hip hatchback is perfect for the young at heart. Its get-up-and-go personality should fit well with those who lead an upbeat lifestyle. It’s designed with a big, edgy attitude that's meant to turn heads. Bearing large sweeping front headlamps, roof-mounted side rails, clear circular tail lamps, and a rear spoiler, this sub-compact hatchback is ready to strut its stuff in style. And to spice things up on the inside, a unique motorcycle-inspired instrument cluster features a combination of analog and digital displays.

Don't let the Spark's diminutive size fool you. As we've discovered, it provides ample room for four full sized adults, leaving more than enough legroom for the rear passengers. Although squeezing in a fifth passenger might turn into a circus act, the Spark's sturdy chassis is strong enough to carry the extra load.

Powering the Spark is an economical 1.2 liter DOHC inline 4 engine that produces 80.5 horsepower and 60 Nm of torque. Unfortunately, only a 5-speed manual transmission is currently available. So if you want to drive this firecracker home, you'll have to learn how to drive a stick. As for the P568,000 price tag, you'll be glad to know that Chevrolet didn't skimp out on the Spark. It comes standard with a driver airbag, front seat belts, central door locks, child seat latching system, and an anti-theft electronic immobilizer. This is one car that's not meant to be taken lightly.

All it takes is a Spark
All eyes were on the all-new Spark as it took center stage in the Chevy Motorama. The pint-sized Autobot came in costume as Skids from the movie Transformers with a towering 10-foot “transformed” version standing beside it. Then, Chevrolet really made sparks fly as it presented the 2nd Philippine International Pryo Musical Olympics after the Spark’s unveiling.

As shared by Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of Chevrolet Philiippines, Atty. Albert Arcilla, “We’d like to describe Chevrolet Spark -- a small but with massive attitude because of the big things it can do for your life and driving pleasure. Its stylish design, solid handling and fuel-efficiency, you’re guaranteed to spark some fun in your every drive.”

Fun to drive and easy-to-own, the Chevrolet Spark is poised to live up to everyone's sparkling lifestyle.
