The Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID) is having a blast this 2012 as they record yet another great month of sales. Last July, six of its members sold a combined total of 2,128 units, which is a remarkable 19% growth over the same month last year. On a year-to-date basis, this sums up to 18,017 units sold and earns AVID a 27% growth from the 14,195 units sold in the same period last year. Even more impressive is the fact that they were able to surpass the overall industry's growth of 11%.

Leading the tally sheet are Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (Hyundai), The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (Chevrolet), and Motor Image Pilipinas, Inc. (Subaru), who sold 1,530, 388, and 188 units respectively. CATS Motors Inc. (Mercedes-Benz, Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler) and Scandinavian Motors (Volvo) also had a good month with 76 and 26 units sold respectively.

It's quite important to point out that the Passenger Car (PC) segment helped boost July's overall numbers, which grew 52% to 10,906 units from the 7,180 units sold last year.

“Riding on the momentum of an upbeat business and economic landscape, AVID members, with their roster of sellable quality models have maintained highly competitive sales figures versus overall industry sales. Marked by sustained marketing efforts and excellent customer service, AVID expects to hit even better numbers for the remaining five months of 2012,” remarked AVID Presidient, Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo.
